A customer walks in. Looks around. Asks a question. Then leaves.

And most of the time… you’ll never see them again.

Yet, they were seconds away from buying.

Whether it’s on Boulevard Moody or at SmartCentres in Mascouche, this scene plays out every day. A customer hesitates, pulls out their phone, compares options… and if they don’t find what they need, they go somewhere else.

The problem isn’t your product.
It’s not even your service.

It’s the disconnect between your store and your digital presence.

If your physical store and your online presence don’t work together, you’re losing money. Period.

That’s where phygital comes in. It’s the bridge between your in-store experience and your digital marketing—turning anonymous visitors into loyal customers.

Why Phygital Has Become Essential for Local Businesses

Customer Behavior Has Changed (Fast)

Today, over 70% of consumers use their phones in-store to compare products, check reviews, or validate their decisions.

Translation: your customer is already online… even when they’re standing in front of you.

The Silo Trap: Store vs Website

Many businesses still operate like it’s 2015:

the store sells

the website informs

But they don’t work together.

Result: every visit becomes a missed opportunity.

What It Actually Costs You

A customer who leaves without leaving a trace means:

no follow-up
no retention
no data

A customer without data is a customer you’ll have to pay to acquire again.

<img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://nerdmarketing.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/phygital-menu-qr-1024x576.webp" alt="A woman scanne with her phone a qr code to see menu.

The Comeback of QR Codes (And How to Use Them Right)

The Classic Mistake: Sending to the Homepage

A QR code that leads to your homepage?

That’s wasted potential.

Customers want answers—fast.

Product QR Codes: Selling Without a Salesperson

A customer looks at a technical product.

They scan.

They get:

detailed specs

a video

customer reviews

Result: they move forward on their own.

A well-used QR code is a silent salesperson working 24/7.

Checkout QR Codes: Convert on the Spot

“Get 10% off by subscribing to our newsletter.”

Simple. Immediate. Effective.

Email newsletters still average 20%–40% open rates, while organic social reach often drops below 5%.

Window QR Codes: Capture Leads Even When Closed

Your store closes at 5 PM.

Your marketing shouldn’t.

A window QR code can:

capture leads

promote offers

direct traffic to products

24/7.

Augmented Reality: Creating a “Wow” That Converts

AR Is No Longer Just for Big Brands

You don’t need to be IKEA.

Today, AR tools are accessible—even for small businesses.

Real Use Cases for Local Businesses

Home decor: visualize furniture in your space
Restaurants: preview dishes in video
Retail: try products virtually

The experience becomes interactive—and memorable.

Turning Experience into Leads

Every interaction is an opportunity.

Example:
“Send this result to your email”

Done.

You just turned curiosity into a qualified lead.

Geofencing: Attract Customers… Even from Your Competitor

How Proximity Marketing Works

The concept is simple:

target people within a specific radius
send real-time offers

Local Example: Around Boulevard des Entreprises

A customer is browsing at your competitor’s store.

You can show:
“2 minutes away: 15% off today only.”

The Power of “Here and Now” Offers

What drives action:

urgency

proximity

clarity

No complexity needed. Just timing.

Turning Every Store Visit into a Qualified Lead

Why Your Data Is Your Most Valuable Asset

With third-party cookies disappearing, your database is everything.

According to Cyberimpact, email remains one of the most effective channels to engage a local audience.

Simple Tools You Can Implement

No big budget required.

You can use:

a tablet

a contest

a loyalty program

The Role of CRM

A customer buys… then disappears.

Without CRM:
silence

With CRM:
targeted follow-ups
personalized offers
retention

Phygital = Your Best Invisible Salesperson

Digital Doesn’t Replace Human Service

Your service is your strength.

But digital amplifies it.

It Continues the Sale After the Visit

A customer leaves your store.

Your phygital strategy can:

remind them of a product

send an offer

bring them back

The Winning Business in 2026

It’s not the one that attracts the most traffic.

It’s the one that keeps the connection.

Your store attracts. Your digital decides if they come back.

Conclusion

Digital doesn’t replace your business.

It gives it a second life after every visit.

Every customer who walks into your store is an opportunity.

Your website is live. Your social media is active. You may have even invested in digital advertising. And yet… the results aren’t there. No leads. Low engagement. Campaigns that cost money but don’t deliver. Instead, it’s often the presence of critical web marketing mistakes business owners make mistakes that quietly slow down growth.

Today, digital marketing is no longer a series of isolated actions it’s a system.
And when that system is poorly built, everything underperforms.

Here are the 10 most common mistakes we see in SMEs and more importantly, how to fix them.

Common Web Marketing Mistakes Business Owners Make on Websites

1. A Website That Doesn’t Convert

A beautiful website is good.
A website that generates clients is better.

The problem? Many businesses have websites…
that ask nothing from the user.

No clear call-to-action.
No direction.

Result: visitors leave.

Fix
Every page should have a clear goal:

Call

Form submission

Appointment booking

Otherwise, your website is just a brochure—not a sales tool.

2. Ignoring SEO from the Start

Many websites launch without any SEO strategy:

No keywords

No structure

No content

Result: invisible on Google.

And fully dependent on paid ads.

Fix
Integrate SEO from the beginning:

Targeted keywords

Logical H1/H2 structure

Strategic, useful content

3. A Beautiful… but Ineffective Design

A website can look impressive…
and still sell nothing.

Why? Because it doesn’t guide the user.

Too many animations
Too much information
No clear hierarchy

Fix
Good design should:

Direct attention

Simplify reading

Drive action

Design isn’t art.
It’s a tool.

Social Media Mistakes

4. Posting Without a Purpose

Posting just to “stay active” is a common mistake.

Content without direction
No clear message
No strategy

Result: noise.

Fix
Every post must serve a goal:

Visibility

Engagement

Conversion

Otherwise, you’re wasting time.

5. Being Everywhere at Once

Facebook. Instagram. LinkedIn. TikTok.

Everyone wants to be everywhere.

But here’s the reality:
Being everywhere often means being effective nowhere.

Fix
Focus on 1–2 relevant platforms based on your audience.

Better to dominate one platform…
than underperform on all.

6. Not Adapting Content to Each Platform

Posting the same content everywhere?

Common mistake.

Each platform has its role:

Facebook → community & relationships

Instagram → visuals & branding

LinkedIn → credibility & expertise

TikTok → attention & reach

Avoid These Web Marketing Mistakes in Business Advertising

7. Running Ads Without a Strategy

The classic “boost post.”

Easy. Fast.
But rarely effective.

Why?
No targeting
No funnel
No clear objective

Otherwise, you’re paying for visibility—not results.

8. Misunderstanding Ad Platforms

Not all platforms serve the same purpose.

Google Ads captures intent

Facebook Ads creates attention

And that changes everything.

Intent = fast conversion

9. Not Measuring Results

Many businesses run campaigns…
without ever analyzing them.

No tracking
No optimization
No improvement

Optimize campaigns

The Most Critical Mistake

10. Thinking in Silos

Website here.
Social media there.
Ads somewhere else.

The Real Problem: A Fragmented Strategy

Today, SMEs don’t have a tools problem.
They have a structure problem.

Because every isolated action…
might seem logical.

But together?
It doesn’t work.

Good web marketing isn’t about doing more.
It’s about building a system.

More credibility

More conversions

Conclusion

A website alone is no longer enough.
Social media alone is no longer enough.
Advertising alone is no longer enough.

What works today is a system.

Businesses that understand this move forward.
The others?

FAQ

What are the most common web marketing mistakes?

A lack of overall strategy, poor use of social media, and missing SEO optimization are among the most frequent.

Why isn’t my website generating leads?

Because it’s likely not designed to convert or isn’t supported by a complete marketing strategy.

What’s the difference between SEO and advertising?

SEO drives long-term organic traffic, while advertising delivers faster—but paid—results.

Do I need to be on every social media platform?

No. It’s better to focus on the platforms where your audience actually is.

With SME marketing AI, you can generate 100 posts in a single day or produce 10 articles in 5 minutes. But for a small or medium-sized business, the real question remains: does this technology actually drive conversions, or does it make your brand seem generic?

But here’s the real question:
Does it convert… or does it dilute your brand?

Artificial intelligence is everywhere. For SMEs, the promise is appealing: produce more, faster, for less.

However, at Nerd Marketing, we’re seeing a dangerous shift: the commoditization of brand identity.

If everyone uses AI the same way, everyone starts to look the same.
And in marketing, looking like everyone else means disappearing.

AI Is Not Your Marketing Director

AI is an incredibly powerful engine.
But an engine without a driver? It moves fast… sometimes straight into a wall.

AI amplifies what already exists.

If your strategy is unclear, it amplifies confusion.

If your brand is weak, it amplifies generic content.

If your positioning is strong, it amplifies your dominance.

That’s the nuance.

The 3 Mistakes We See in SMEs

Before talking about opportunities, let’s talk about the traps.

1. Publishing more instead of publishing better

Volume without direction creates noise, not value.

2. Letting automation decide

Platforms like Google and Meta are powerful.
But without a strategic framework, they optimize for the cheapest click—not the most profitable customer.

3. Copy-pasting without adapting

AI content that isn’t tailored to your local or industry reality feels off immediately.
And credibility? It’s hard to earn—and easy to lose.

5 Strategic Uses of AI in SME Marketing

Here’s how we use AI—not to replace marketing, but to amplify it intelligently.

1. Content Creation: From Robotic to Conversion-Driven

AI can generate 10 articles in minutes.
The problem? They all sound the same.

The Nerd approach
We use AI to analyze search volume, structure content, and eliminate blank-page syndrome.
Then our strategists step in.

Every sentence is refined

Every example is contextualized

Every angle aligns with your real positioning

Agency value-add
AI doesn’t know your latest client success in your region.
It doesn’t understand your technical jargon.
It doesn’t grasp your on-the-ground reality.

We do.
And that human layer is what turns generic content into a conversion tool.

2. AI Visuals: Creativity Without Losing Credibility

We’re seeing more AI visuals with:

Inconsistent proportions

Distorted logos

Details that expose the artificial nature

For an SME, one poorly executed visual can instantly damage perceived quality.

The Nerd approach
We use AI to create ambitious visual environments: seasonal scenes, campaign concepts, setups that would be impossible within a traditional budget.

Agency value-add

Your logo stays intact

Your products stay accurate

Your brand colors are respected

We use AI for the environment.
Your identity remains 100% authentic.

3. Predictive Advertising: Test More, Invest Smarter

AI-driven ads can generate dozens of variations in seconds.
Powerful—but risky without structure.

The Nerd approach
We create multiple psychological angles and hooks, then test methodically.

Agency value-add
AI sees clicks.
We see qualified customers.

A cheap click that doesn’t convert costs more than a premium click that generates a sale.
We analyze with a business mindset—not just an algorithmic one.

4. Customer Service Automation: Efficiency Without Frustration

Nothing is more frustrating than a looping chatbot.

The Nerd approach
We build systems that filter intent:
repetitive questions are automated, real opportunities are quickly routed to humans.

Agency value-add
We create a smart bridge between automation and human interaction.

As soon as a real opportunity appears, AI hands it off.

Result:
Less wasted time, more conversions.

5. Data Analysis: Turning Numbers Into Decisions

SMEs collect data:
traffic, clicks, impressions, leads.

But data isn’t strategy.

The Nerd approach
We use AI to detect patterns invisible to the naked eye.

Agency value-add
We turn those insights into action plans.

AI tells you what’s happening.
We tell you what to do about it.

Why AI Still Needs “Nerds”

AI is an accelerator.
But what exactly are you accelerating?

An SME without clear positioning that fully embraces AI risks becoming interchangeable.
And in a saturated market, interchangeable means replaceable.

At Nerd Marketing, we use AI as a performance tool.
Never as a substitute for strategic thinking.

Because technology evolves fast.
But strong brands? They’re built with intention.

Strategic Checkpoint

Is your current marketing structured…
or just accelerated?

Before hitting the gas, make sure you have a steering wheel.

Let’s talk strategy before we talk AI.

If you want, I can also push this version further for US SEO (search intent + keyword density) or adapt it to sound even more “agency pitch ready”.

Conclusion: Take Back Control of Your Growth
Artificial intelligence is neither a magic bullet nor a fatal threat: it’s a tool that amplifies what you’re already building. For an SME, success doesn’t lie in how quickly you generate content, but in the relevance of every interaction with your customers.

Let’s talk strategy before we talk about AI.

Don’t let automation dilute your brand identity. Contact the Nerd Marketing team today to discover how we can transform these technological tools into real performance drivers for your business.

When a local business decides to invest in digital advertising, one question always comes up:

Google Ads or Meta Ads?

The short answer: it depends.

In reality, everything comes down to your business goals.

Do you want to:

Generate calls quickly?

Increase your visibility in your area?

Build a pipeline over the next 3 to 6 months?

Each platform plays a specific role. Choosing wrong often means wasting budget.

Google Ads vs Meta Ads: Understanding the Real Difference

When you compare Google Ads and Meta Ads, you’re comparing two completely different logics:

Google Ads captures existing demand

Meta Ads creates attention and desire

And that’s exactly where everything is decided for a local business.

Google Ads: Capture Existing Local Demand

With Google Ads, you position yourself in front of people already searching for a solution.

Examples of local searches:

plumber near me

marketing agency Mascouche

bad credit car financing

Mazda dealership near me

Here, the intent is strong.
The customer is already in decision mode.

Ideal if:

You want quick calls

Your service solves an urgent problem

Your market already has search demand

Budget reality (SMEs)

Locally, many businesses see CPCs between $2 and $8, sometimes higher in competitive industries like finance, legal, or automotive.

Most small businesses start with $1,000 to $2,500/month.

If your landing page converts well, Google Ads becomes a real lead machine.

When Google Ads doesn’t work:

No one is searching for your service yet

Your website doesn’t convert

Your offer isn’t clear

Google captures demand. It doesn’t create it.

Meta Ads: Creating Attention in Your Market

With Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), the dynamic is different.

Your customer isn’t searching.
They’re scrolling.

It’s your job to grab their attention.

How Meta really works:

Meta relies on:

Behavior (clicks, video views, interactions)

Interests

Lookalike audiences

It uses these signals to identify people likely to be interested—even if they don’t know you yet.

Why it’s powerful for local businesses:

Because you can target:

A precise geographic radius (e.g. 10–25 km)

Specific interests

Buying behaviors

Lookalike audiences

Ideal if:

The Real Strategy for a Local Business: The Funnel

To understand how both platforms work together, think in terms of a funnel:

TOFU (Top of Funnel) → attract attention

MOFU (Middle of Funnel) → nurture interest

BOFU (Bottom of Funnel) → convert

A business that masters this stops relying on luck… and starts controlling growth.

Winning structure:

TOFU – Awareness
Meta Ads → visibility, educational content, branding

MOFU – Consideration
Meta remarketing → videos, testimonials, soft offers

BOFU – Decision
Google Ads → capture active search demand

This is where profitability explodes—because Google converts people who have already seen you on Meta.

Google Ads vs Meta Ads for Local Business

Criteria

Google Ads

Meta Ads

Intent

High (ready to buy)

Low (discovery phase)

Speed

Fast results

Progressive

Role

BOFU (conversion)

TOFU/MOFU (awareness)

Goal

Leads, calls

Engagement, audience

Budget

$1,000–$2,500/month

$15–25/day

Complexity

Technical

Creative

Real Example: Local Business Scenario

Scenario 1: Immediate need

Plumbing, snow removal, financing
→ Google Ads first

Scenario 2: Awareness growth

New clinic, new product
→ Meta Ads first

Scenario 3: Structured growth

→ Both combined: Meta feeds, Google converts

Common Mistakes Local Businesses Make

The mistakes we see all the time:

Relying on only one platform

Launching campaigns without strategy

Not tracking data (Meta Pixel, Google conversions)

Result:

Not enough visibility

Not enough leads

A small business doesn’t have unlimited budget.
Every dollar must work.

How to Choose (For Real)

Ask yourself:

Is my customer already searching for my solution on Google?

Do I need quick results or long-term awareness?

Is my website ready to convert?

If the answer is unclear, the problem isn’t the platform.

It’s the strategy.

The Nerd Advice

“Don’t ignore compliance. Measuring results is great—but doing it properly protects your business long term.

And most importantly: respond fast.
A Google Ads lead cools down in under 5 minutes.”

A good marketing strategy doesn’t stop at the click.
It goes all the way to real conversion.

In Summary: Google Ads or Meta Ads?

When you analyze Google Ads vs Meta Ads for a local business, one thing becomes clear:

It’s not a binary choice.

The real question is:

What role should each platform play in your growth?

Before investing, make sure you have:

A strong landing page

A clear marketing budget

Otherwise, even the best campaigns will underperform.

We build a system.

FAQ

Is Google Ads better than Facebook Ads?

No. Google captures active intent. Meta builds awareness.

What’s the minimum budget for a local business?

A strategic test can start around $750–$1,500/month, depending on your industry.

Can you succeed with only one platform?

Yes short term. But long-term growth usually requires both.

How long before seeing results?

Google: sometimes within days

Meta: usually a few weeks

Visual artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly important role in marketing. Image generators offer speed and flexibility, and when used properly, they can become powerful creative allies. As an Art Director at Nerd Marketing, I actively test AI-generated vehicle images and integrate them only when they provide real value.

In automotive marketing, however, visuals leave no room for error. Even subtle inconsistencies—headlights, grilles, badges—can undermine the credibility of a model and the brand presenting it. And it is precisely in these details that AI-generated vehicle images still reveal their limitations.

This article is based on concrete observations drawn from real-world testing in automotive dealership content creation. The goal is to provide a professional, nuanced perspective on the use of AI, while respecting the standards required in art direction and visual consistency.

Why AI-Generated Vehicle Images Lack Fidelity

Image generators operate through visual associations. They analyze massive image datasets to identify recurring patterns, then reassemble a “plausible” image based on those references. In automotive marketing, this recomposition logic presents a clear problem: it does not account for the unique design subtleties of each model.

In practice, this results in visible inconsistencies. Headlights from a previous generation, a grille reminiscent of another model from the same brand, or a bumper design that does not match any official version. These discrepancies may go unnoticed by some, but they are quickly spotted by trained eyes—and especially by brands that care about their image.

From an art direction standpoint, this kind of approximation turns what should be a value-adding visual into a source of doubt.

A Challenge Amplified by New or Redesigned Models

The newer a vehicle is, the greater the risk of error. Recently redesigned models often have limited visual references available: fewer angles, fewer color variations, fewer trims, and visuals that are still tightly controlled by manufacturers.

In this exercise, we asked AI—using a simple prompt—to transform a photo of a 2026 Honda Civic into a winter scene. The generated result revealed several alterations to the original model. Fog lights were added, the front grille was modified, and the bumper design was changed.

While these changes may not be immediately obvious, they alter the vehicle’s visual signature and no longer reflect the real configuration of the model. This example clearly illustrates how, even when using a precise reference image, AI can reinterpret essential design elements rather than reproduce them faithfully.

In these situations, AI fills in the gaps with what it already “knows”—drawing from previous generations, concept cars, or related models. The result may appear credible at first glance, but it does not accurately represent the vehicle’s true design.

In an industry where every redesign is strategic and meticulously planned, these visual shifts can blur the message and dilute the model’s identity.

Why a Reference Image Is Not Always Enough

It is tempting to believe that providing a precise reference image will eliminate these issues. In reality, the reference image mainly guides AI on general elements such as proportions, stance, or atmosphere. It does not guarantee strict adherence to design details.

In the example above, we started with Image A, showing a 2026 Jeep Cherokee. Using a simple prompt, we asked AI to generate a winter scene (Image B). The result shows that AI reinterpreted the vehicle based on its internal visual references. However, when compared to the official manufacturer photo (Image C), the overall appearance no longer matches the real model. Certain design elements were altered or approximated, clearly illustrating the current limitations of AI when it comes to accurately respecting the characteristics of a recent vehicle.

Common Errors on Recent Models with AI-Generated Vehicle Images

As soon as the angle, lighting, or environment changes, AI interprets the vehicle again. It adjusts, simplifies, or transforms elements without distinguishing between essential design choices and purely decorative details. This limitation is structural and inherent to how these tools function.

Blurred Logos, Badges, and Model Names: A Well-Known Limitation

Logos, badges, and model names are among the elements most frequently altered in AI-generated images. Distorted text, inaccurate typography, and partially legible emblems are common issues.

This is due to two main factors. First, image generators have historically struggled with precise text rendering. Second, there is an implicit tendency to avoid overly faithful reproduction of registered trademarks. The result is an image that may look realistic from a distance but quickly loses credibility upon closer inspection.

In automotive marketing, these elements are never secondary. They carry brand identity and recognition. When they become blurred or approximated, the entire message weakens.

AI-Generated Vehicle Images for Dealership Building Photography

For this exercise, we used Image A, representing an automotive dealership building. In the generated Image B, AI altered the textual elements of the visual. Specifically, the Chrysler and Dodge logos on the building façade were distorted, making the lettering imprecise and completely illegible. This type of modification is common with AI-generated images and represents a significant challenge in automotive marketing, where brand accuracy and legibility are critical to credibility.

When AI Becomes a Relevant Tool in Automotive Marketing

These limitations do not mean that visual AI has no place. When used in the right context, it can enrich a creative strategy and speed up certain production stages.

AI is particularly effective for:

atmospheric visuals

creative or exploratory concepts

backgrounds or staging

teaser or inspirational content

In these cases, the vehicle is not presented as an official reference but as a narrative element, significantly reducing the risk of confusion.

When Using AI Becomes Risky

Conversely, certain uses carry significant risks and should be avoided:

model pages

vehicle detail pages

comparisons

official advertising campaigns

transactional content

Whenever the goal is to inform accurately or represent a vehicle faithfully, AI cannot replace manufacturer-approved images or certified 3D renders.

The Recommended Approach: AI Supported by Human Art Direction

The healthiest solution is a hybrid approach. Artificial intelligence can support creation, open visual exploration, and accelerate certain processes. However, art direction remains essential to ensure consistency, credibility, and compliance.

AI is a powerful tool. Responsibility for the visual remains human.

AI-Generated Vehicle Images Used for Backgrounds Only

The best use of AI is to generate backgrounds while keeping the vehicle itself in certified 3D to ensure model accuracy.

Conclusion – AI Is Not the Problem, Usage Is

Visual artificial intelligence offers exciting possibilities in content creation. It enables exploration, rapid iteration, and expanded creative boundaries. However, in automotive marketing, visual accuracy is not a luxury—it is a requirement.

AI-generated vehicle images still have clear limitations in terms of fidelity and consistency. These discrepancies, sometimes subtle, can weaken a brand’s credibility when used without structure or discernment.

The role of art direction therefore remains central. It ensures the right choices are made, the proper boundaries are set, and AI is used where it truly adds value—without compromising brand image. AI can support creation, but it does not replace human judgment or the responsibility tied to public-facing visuals.

Should your business be present on every social media platform?

It’s a question almost every small and medium-sized business asks today—especially with the rapid growth of platforms and the constant pressure to be visible everywhere. Not necessarily. And in many cases, it’s actually a very bad idea. With the constant increase in content, the emergence of new social networks, and trends that change every month, it’s natural to wonder whether being present on all social media for business is truly necessary .

The answer is simple: no. And that’s great news.

In reality, the businesses that perform best on social media aren’t the ones trying to be everywhere. They’re the ones that choose the right social media platforms for their business—strategically, intentionally, and based on their real ability to produce quality content.

Why Businesses Think They Need to Be on Every Social Media Platform

The illusion created by major brands on social media

When we see well-known brands posting simultaneously on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X, it’s easy to think:

“If they’re doing it, my business should be on every social media platform too.”

The problem is that these companies have:

dedicated content teams

significant budgets

community managers

in-house video creators

platform-specific objectives

For an SMB, trying to replicate this level of social media presence often leads to:

rushed or low-quality content

inactive accounts

inconsistent brand messaging

loss of credibility

a lot of time invested for very little return

Your Audience Isn’t on Every Social Media Platform

Your business doesn’t need to be present on every social media platform—because your customers aren’t either.

Social media for businesses: examples by industry

A B2B company will generally perform better on LinkedIn than on TikTok

A local restaurant will see stronger results on Instagram and Facebook

HR, recruitment, or training-focused businesses benefit mostly from LinkedIn and sometimes YouTube

A local business often sees better ROI on Facebook, sometimes TikTok, and rarely on X

Each platform has its own codes, formats, and audience.
Trying to be everywhere on social media is like trying to speak every language at once.

The Real Social Media Challenge for Businesses: Consistency

The issue isn’t the number of platforms—it’s a business’s ability to be consistent on social media.

Why consistency is difficult when a business tries to be everywhere

Quality social media content requires:

time

planning

a clear editorial direction

a defined strategy

platform-specific KPIs

internal resources or an external partner

It’s far more effective to post once or twice a week on two well-chosen social media platforms than once a month on six different ones.

How to Choose the Right Social Media Platforms for Your Business

Step 1: Identify your audience on social media

Where are your customers?

Which platforms do they actually use?

What type of content do they consume?

Step 2: Define your business objectives

brand awareness

lead generation

recruitment

customer retention

sales or online orders

Each objective naturally aligns with specific social media platforms.

Step 3: Evaluate your real content creation capacity

Video?

Graphic design?

Written content?

Stories?

Carousels?

Your social media strategy should reflect your business reality—not that of a global brand.

Step 4: Prioritize

Most high-performing businesses focus on two or three platforms, such as:

Facebook + Instagram

LinkedIn + Facebook

LinkedIn + YouTube

TikTok + Instagram

Signs Your Business Is on Too Many Social Media Platforms

You post less than once a month

You constantly run out of ideas

You copy and paste the same content everywhere

You’re always trying to catch up

You don’t track clear KPIs per platform

If this sounds familiar, it’s probably time to simplify your social media presence.

Being on Every social media for business: When Does It Make Sense?

Let’s be honest: IA content Sora is getting ridiculous

Let’s take two minutes of honesty.
Yes, Sora-generated video content is exploding.
But exploding… in stupidity.

We expected AI video to be a revolution.
We thought: finally, we’ll be able to tell better stories, explain better, create better.

And what do we see?

Carrots doing kung-fu in a bamboo forest.

A dog flying a jet fighter.

Babies running on walls like it’s The Matrix.

Ninja bananas blowing up inside Japanese temples.

Seriously.
This is the revolution?

“In 2024, 52% of businesses used AI video-generation tools in their content creation workflows.”

(Source: AI Video Creation: 2025 Statistics & Trends)

We have Sora — the most powerful video tool ever created —
…and we use it to generate nonsense.

And that pisses me off.
Because it proves one thing:
we have more technological power than human creativity.

IA content Sora creates noise, not meaning

This isn’t just “weird.”
It’s a real problem.

We’re creating a massive visual pollution layer.
People scroll, see something flashy, say “haha,” and forget it two seconds later.

It’s visual fast-food.
Emptiness wrapped in gold foil.
Eye-candy… without a brain behind it.

And of course, the algorithm wants more.

When spectacle becomes the norm, nothing has value anymore.

A real example with IA content Sora

This week, a small business I know posted three Sora-generated videos.
Technically perfect.
Emotionally dead.

Result?
0 clicks
0 comments
0 calls

A masterpiece… for no one.

We’re losing time, truth, and the human behind the IA content Sora

Let me be direct:
Sora-generated content is dehumanizing our feeds.

Or more accurately:
we’re letting AI replace real human stories with shiny nonsense.

Instead of:

real stories

useful insights

meaningful education

We get… “perfect absurdity.”

A plastic universe.
A parade of fakes.
A constant noise that suffocates intention.

Meanwhile, algorithms can’t tell the difference between:

a small business with something real to say

a video of samurai carrots

It’s turning the feed into the social media equivalent of a Saturday-night doomscroll — just looking for “something that moves.”

And yet: the problem is NOT Sora

Sora is brilliant.
Revolutionary.
A technical marvel.

But Sora has no intention.
It simply amplifies what you ask of it.

Ask it for emptiness → it gives you spectacular emptiness.
Ask it for meaning → it helps you create more meaning.

Sora isn’t a creator.
It’s a multiplier.

So if the internet gets dumber…
it’s because we’re asking it to.

The public is saturated. Their threshold is gone

People are tired.
Their attention isn’t infinite.
Their patience even less.

“59.9% of consumers now distrust the authenticity of online content.”

(Source: Accenture Life Trends 2025 – via Sify)

You know what that means?

Our news feeds are becoming an all-you-can-eat buffet…
but with dishes no one actually wants.

And this is where small businesses have an incredible opportunity

The more absurd AI content becomes,
the more valuable real content becomes.

The more stupid videos go viral,
the rarer clarity becomes.

And rarity = power.

Small businesses don’t need to compete with absurd AI blockbusters.
They need to stay:
human
simple
real

They can use Sora to:

illustrate their services

simplify their message

produce faster — but not mindlessly

amplify their authenticity

make the invisible visible

A concrete example

A local small business using Sora to show its process, explain a complex idea, or visualize its expertise…
will get more real attention than a brand launching a CGI ninja-cat video.

Because real always beats noise.

In summary: less noise, more meaning

AI can create anything.
But it cannot make people stay.
That’s the job of humans.

Sora amplifies what you feed it.
If you feed it emptiness, you’ll produce spectacular emptiness.
If you feed it meaning, you’ll create impact.

Small businesses that use Sora to amplify intention —
not noise —
will be the ones who stand out.

Want to use AI without falling into the trap of absurd content?
Want to create something real, strong, and clear?

A Fresh Start — Online Too

The movers are booked, the boxes are packed, and your team can’t wait to settle into the new space.
But while your physical business relocation is underway, there’s another side of the move that’s easy to forget: your digital presence. Changing addresses isn’t just about switching locations — it’s about keeping your customers and Google in the loop.
With a little planning, you can make sure your clients find you without confusion.

This article walks you through each step to make your digital move smooth, simple, and stress-free.

1. Update Your Address Everywhere People Look for You

Picture this: a loyal customer drives to your old office because Google still lists your previous address. Not ideal, right?
That’s why your first priority should be keeping your address consistent everywhere.

Where to start:

Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) – update your address, ZIP code, business hours, and upload a photo of your new space.

Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram – correct your address and post about the move (before and after photos always perform well).

Online directories (Yelp, 411.ca, Yellow Pages, etc.) – these listings help Google verify your location.

Nerd Marketing tip: Consistency across your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) details is crucial for local SEO.

2. Give Your Website a Quick Check-Up before business relocation

Your website is often the first place customers go to confirm your details.
Take a few minutes to review these basics:

Is your footer showing the correct address and phone number?

Is your Contact page updated and linking to the new Google Map?

Are your contact forms still sending to the right email addresses?

Are your metadata and Schema tags (LocalBusiness) current?

Example: One local business saw a 25 % drop in contact requests after moving because their embedded Google Map still showed the old location.

A five-minute audit can save weeks of confusion.

3. Communicate the Move With Care for your business relocation

Moving is exciting — and it’s a great opportunity to connect with your clients in a positive way.

A few easy ways to share the news:

Send a newsletter to announce your new address and thank your loyal customers.

Post on social media with photos or a short video of your team settling in.

Add a small banner to your website (e.g., “We’ve moved! Come visit us at our new address in Laval”).

The goal: show that your business is evolving, but your service and personality remain the same.

Punchline: “Every move is a fresh chance to remind people why they love doing business with you.”

4. Handle the Small (But Crucial) Tech Details

You don’t have to be tech-savvy — just keep this mini-checklist handy:

Update your address in all online ads (Google Ads, Meta Ads).

If your Contact page URL changes, set up a 301 redirect so you don’t lose traffic or SEO value.

Check your Google Analytics, Search Console, and Meta Pixel to make sure tracking still works.

Don’t forget to update your email signature with the new address.

Nerd Marketing tip: Review any connected tools (CRMs, forms, booking widgets, etc.) to make sure your old address isn’t hiding there.

5. Business relocation : Use the Move to Refresh Your Brand Image

A new space means new energy — and that’s the perfect time to update your visuals and storytelling.
Consider:

Refreshing your team and office photos on your site and socials;

Rewriting your business description to reflect your growth;

Or even filming a short “behind-the-scenes” video of the move.

Quote to remember: “Every relocation is proof your business is growing — show it proudly.”

Conclusion — A Step Toward Stronger Online Visibility

Your business move is exciting, but remember: your customers (and Google) will only see the change once your digital info is up to date.
By taking the time to refresh your online presence, you protect your visibility — and even strengthen it.

At Nerd Marketing, we help businesses through transitions like this — with strategy, care, and a human touch.

Want some help making your move as smooth online as it is in real life? Nerd Marketing will guide you step by step with kindness and strategy.

FAQ

1. Why is updating my Google listing so important?
Because Google can take several days to validate the change. The sooner you start, the smoother it goes.

2. Should I redo my local ad campaigns?
Yes — especially if your move changes your target area or service region.

3. What if I forget some listings?
No worries! Create a simple checklist and update them gradually. What matters most is consistency.

At Nerd Marketing, we’ve been helping small and medium-sized businesses across Québec build smarter marketing strategy for over 10 years.
From Montréal to Rimouski, we’ve seen companies double their visibility simply by clarifying their plan.
Could your business be next?

Today, “doing marketing” is no longer just posting on Facebook or designing your logo in Canva.
If you want to attract the right customers and make your budget count, you need a real marketing strategy — not something complicated, but something that fits your business reality.

According to SEMrush (2024), 68% of businesses report a higher marketing ROI when they follow a consistent content and digital strategy throughout the year.

But how can you tell if your marketing efforts are truly working?
And more importantly, how can you make sure your plan brings tangible results — whether you’re in Montréal, Val-d’Or, or the North Shore?

Why a well-planned strategy makes all the difference

A marketing strategy isn’t just about running ads.
It’s about knowing where to invest your time, energy, and budget to make sure every effort drives results.

At Nerd Marketing, we’ve seen firsthand how a clear plan can transform performance

Transit Jeunesse in Montreal, which needed a fresh brand and a clear website.

Charlevoix Nissan in La Malbaie, a dealership that wanted more online bookings and to move beyond manufacturer campaigns.

Lombardi Honda in Montreal, looking for a complete plan to handle all their marketing.

Rousseau Immobilier, a broker who wanted a personal brand strong enough to stand out on social media.

All of them had the same challenge: finding a consistent, effective digital strategy tailored to their goals.

The 4 must-haves of a strong SME marketing strategy

1. Understand Your Reality

Every small business faces its own challenges: market size, seasonality, team, and budget.
The right strategy starts by listening — not imposing.
That’s exactly how we approach each mandate.

2. Keep Real Human Contact

You should be able to talk to your project manager, ask questions, and understand what’s happening — not receive a cold, automated report.
Our strength lies in proximity and transparency: you always know who’s behind your campaigns.

3. Showcase Your Expertise

Your business is local? Technical? Highly specialized? Perfect.
A good marketing strategy turns your know-how into clear, engaging messages your audience understands.

4. Measure What Matters

An effective plan is measurable: more traffic, more calls, more sales.
We use performance dashboards and tangible KPIs to ensure every dollar invested delivers a return.

Nerd Marketing: Close to Québec’s SMBs, Wherever They Are

Our team is made up of creative, strategy-driven professionals who love helping small businesses grow.
We work with everyone from aesthetic clinics in Laval to manufacturers in Beauce, and we bring the same energy and precision to each project.

SEO, branding, content marketing, online ads, and automation — our goal is to generate real impact, not meaningless reports.

Our Approach: Human, Local, and Measurable

We believe marketing should adapt to the entrepreneur’s reality, not the other way around.
That’s why every project begins with a genuine conversation — to understand your story, your market, and your goals.
Then, we build a simple, realistic, and effective plan that delivers steady, measurable growth.

What You Should Remember

The best marketing strategy isn’t the loudest one.
It’s the one that listens, adapts to your business, and helps you grow step by step with clear, measurable results.

Let’s contact We love discovering new stories — whether you’re in Chicoutimi, Rimouski, or just around the corner in Terrebonne.

FAQ – Digital marketing strategy for SMEs (simplified)

What is a digital marketing strategy for SMEs?

It’s a clear plan that shows where to put your time and budget to reach the right clients and boost your visibility.

Why should a small business invest in a strategy?

Because working without a plan wastes money. A good strategy helps you focus and get real results.

What’s the difference between a strategy and an ad campaign?

An ad campaign is short-term (like a one-month promo). A strategy is the bigger picture guiding your actions for months or years.

How much does a digital marketing strategy cost?

There’s no fixed price. It depends on your size, goals, and tools (SEO, online ads, branding). The key is to adapt it to your budget.

How do I choose the right agency?

Pick one that understands your reality, speaks in simple terms, and shows you measurable results.

From May 28 to 29, I had the chance to attend 2025 Web Summit Vancouver, a key event bringing together experts in technology, design, and marketing. Over two days, I attended compelling conferences, exchanged ideas with passionate professionals, and took time to reflect on the emerging trends shaping the future of marketing.

In this article, I share the top marketing trends from 2025 Web Summit that stood out to me. Each one offers a concrete way to adapt your strategy and stay ahead of the curve.

AI: A powerful ally that needs clear direction

In the talk “The Next Great GPT,” one speaker brilliantly described AI as an over-caffeinated intern: hyperactive, ready for anything, but lacking structure.

That’s exactly it. Without human strategy, AI becomes scattered. In marketing, artificial intelligence helps generate content, analyze data, or design visuals—but it’s up to us to guide it. AI doesn’t replace humans. It enhances what we do.

SEO goes beyond Google

Search habits are evolving. More and more people—especially younger generations—are using TikTok, Reddit, and Snapchat to find information. Search is becoming visual, social, and interactive.

This means brands need to expand their approach to visibility. Ranking on Google still matters. But Web Summit 2025 marketing trends emphasize being present where real searches happen—in short-form content and on social platforms.

Long-form content is making a comeback

One insight came up again and again: for big decisions (like purchases over $10,000), people need to be exposed to your message up to 23 times before acting.

That happens through solid content strategies: blogs, explainer videos, newsletters, comparison guides, and social posts. In 2025, long-form content is more than relevant—it’s essential to building trust and driving action.

Make your data actionable

The talk “0 Charts in 20 Minutes That Will Transform Your Business” reminded me of a simple truth: data only matters if it’s usable.

Whether in marketing or design, visual clarity is key. Good data visualization—charts, infographics, or simplified dashboards—helps people grasp insights quickly and take meaningful action.

Facebook remains a strong local marketing tool

While platforms like TikTok gain traction, Facebook is still one of the most profitable ad platforms, especially for local targeting and calls to action.

One big takeaway: just because a tool is older doesn’t mean it’s outdated. Sometimes, it simply needs a fresh approach.

A strong brand message is your best asset

One standout example mentioned during the summit: Nike’s “If you have a body, you’re an athlete.” That kind of consistency across all channels makes a brand unforgettable.

In 2025, standout brands repeat a clear, aligned message everywhere. What’s your signature? What message should people remember, no matter the context?

Collaborative design: from prototype to code

The Figma talk “Accelerating Development: From Design to Code” showed how the lines between creatives and developers are blurring. Thanks to collaborative tools, design is no longer a silo—it’s part of a smooth, integrated process.

This speeds up delivery and ensures consistency. It’s a shift we’ve already started in our team—and one we’re ready to build on.

Online reviews impact your visibility

AI tools like ChatGPT are starting to include public reviews in their responses. What people say about you influences what these tools say.

It’s no longer just about reputation—it’s also about SEO. Managing your reviews proactively is becoming a strategic investment.

Conclusion

Web Summit 2025 confirmed one key thing: the intersection of technology, design, data, and human connection is already reshaping marketing.

The pace is quickening. To keep up, you need to be strategic, consistent, and above all, curious. Those who stand out will be the ones who test, adapt, and double down on quality. Want to adapt your marketing to the latest trends? Contact us today.

FAQ

Why is long-form content important in 2025?

Because it builds credibility, reassures users, and helps convert them—especially in complex buying cycles.

How can brands stay visible on new search platforms?

By tailoring their content for short, interactive formats (videos, carousels, stories) and answering real user questions.

How does AI affect SEO in 2025?

AI tools read reviews, reorganize answers, and highlight well-rated brands. A strong online reputation now directly boosts visibility.
